Global Card Auctions, LLC (“GCA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) ships trading cards, collectibles, memorabilia, photographs, and other property to buyers and receives property from consignors, sellers, and other customers for auction, private sale, authentication, storage, or other GCA services.
This Shipping, Insurance & Delivery Policy (“Policy”) explains GCA’s shipping practices, typical carrier options, shipment-protection procedures, and the responsibilities of buyers, consignors, sellers, and other persons shipping property to or receiving property from GCA.
This Policy is incorporated into GCA’s applicable Auction Terms and Conditions, Consignment Agreement, Private Sale Agreement, invoice, order terms, and other applicable transaction documents. If this Policy conflicts with a transaction-specific agreement, the transaction-specific agreement will control.
GCA may use USPS, UPS, FedEx, Parcel Pro®, InsureShield®, an approved third-party insurer or logistics provider, specialty transportation, secure pickup or delivery, or another carrier or delivery service selected by GCA.
GCA selects the carrier, service level, packaging method, shipment-protection method, insurance arrangement, declared value, signature requirement, and delivery protocol based on factors including:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, GCA is not required to use a carrier or service requested by a buyer, consignor, or seller.
Shipment processing generally begins after GCA receives cleared payment, completes any applicable fraud or address-verification review, and confirms that the property is available for shipment.
Processing times and delivery dates are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
Shipping and handling charges may be shown at checkout, included on an invoice, communicated separately, or otherwise stated in the applicable auction listing, private-sale documentation, order confirmation, or other transaction documents.
Default Allocation of Shipping Costs. Unless the applicable auction listing, Lot description, Marketplace listing, private-sale documentation, agreement, invoice, or other transaction-specific terms expressly state otherwise, the following default allocation applies to every auction, Marketplace transaction, private sale, or other transaction administered by GCA:
(a) the consignor, seller, or other owner or sender is responsible for all packing, shipping, tracking, insurance or shipment-protection, signature, handling, and delivery costs incurred in sending the property to GCA; and
(b) the buyer or other recipient is responsible for all GCA-approved packing, outbound shipping, tracking, insurance or shipment-protection, signature, handling, and delivery costs incurred in sending the property from GCA to the buyer or other recipient.
GCA may agree to pay, waive, reduce, or subsidize some or all of these costs for a particular shipment or transaction. GCA's provision of a shipping label, carrier account, or shipping instructions does not, by itself, mean that GCA has agreed to bear the associated cost.
Shipping and handling charges may include:
Where practical, GCA may combine multiple purchases belonging to the same customer into a single shipment.
Combined shipping is not guaranteed and may not be available where items have different values, storage locations, release dates, destinations, insurance requirements, or shipping requirements.
GCA may ship items separately when reasonably necessary for security, insurance eligibility, carrier requirements, inventory handling, delivery timing, or operational reasons.
Collectibles may require special shipping procedures because carrier rules, declared-value limits, insurance availability, eligibility requirements, security procedures, and claims requirements vary based on the carrier, service, destination, shipment value, and type of collectible.
GCA may use enhanced packaging, signature services, separate insurance, high-value shipping programs, specialty logistics, secure pickup or delivery, or other protections when GCA determines they are appropriate.
A carrier’s declared value is not necessarily insurance.
Declared value generally establishes or increases the maximum amount of the carrier’s potential contractual liability, subject to the carrier’s terms, exclusions, eligibility requirements, packaging requirements, documentation requirements, proof-of-value requirements, and claims procedures.
Declaring a value does not guarantee reimbursement if a package is lost, damaged, stolen, delayed, or otherwise subject to a claim.
GCA may therefore obtain separate shipment insurance or use a specialized high-value shipping program instead of, or in addition to, relying on carrier declared value.
The following chart describes typical domestic shipping options GCA may consider. It is intended as a general guide only.
| Shipment Value | USPS | UPS / Parcel Pro® | FedEx |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to $500 | USPS Ground Advantage®, Priority Mail®, or another eligible service; tracking; insurance as appropriate. | UPS Ground or other eligible service; tracking; declared value or shipment protection as appropriate. | FedEx Ground, Home Delivery, Express, or another eligible service; tracking; declared value as appropriate. |
| $500.01–$1,000 | Eligible USPS service with insurance; signature confirmation may be required. | UPS with declared value or other approved shipment protection; signature generally required. Parcel Pro® or InsureShield® may be used where appropriate. | FedEx may be used subject to applicable collectible declared-value limits. Signature service may be required. |
| $1,000.01–$5,000 | Eligible USPS insured service up to applicable limits; signature generally required. USPS Registered Mail® may also be used for enhanced security. | UPS with appropriate insurance or shipment protection; Parcel Pro®, InsureShield®, or another approved insurance arrangement may be used. | GCA generally will use FedEx above applicable ordinary collectible declared-value limits only when separate approved insurance or shipment protection covers the additional value. |
| $5,000.01–$10,000 | USPS Registered Mail® may be used; enhanced delivery controls may be required. | Parcel Pro®, InsureShield®, another approved insured UPS arrangement, or specialty shipping; manual review required. | FedEx may be used only where GCA confirms insurance or shipment protection appropriate for the shipment. |
| $10,000.01–$25,000 | USPS Registered Mail®; manual review; signature or other enhanced security measures as appropriate. | Parcel Pro®, specialty insurance, InsureShield®, or another approved high-value shipping arrangement; manual approval required. | Only where separate insurance or approved protection has been confirmed. |
| $25,000.01–$50,000 | USPS Registered Mail® may be used, subject to applicable USPS insurance limits and requirements. | Parcel Pro®, specialty insurance, secure logistics, or another approved high-value arrangement; manual approval required. | Only pursuant to a separately confirmed insurance or specialty-shipping arrangement. |
| Over $50,000 | USPS Registered Mail® may still be considered, but additional or alternative protection may be required above applicable USPS insurance limits. | Parcel Pro®, specialty insurance, secure logistics, private delivery, or another individually approved arrangement. | Only pursuant to a specifically approved insured or specialty-logistics arrangement. |
USPS may be used for ordinary and higher-value collectible shipments.
Eligible USPS services may provide insurance subject to applicable USPS limits, terms, valuation requirements, and claims procedures.
For higher-value shipments, GCA may use USPS Registered Mail®, which provides enhanced security and may permit substantially higher insurance limits than ordinary USPS services, subject to then-current USPS requirements.
Registered Mail may take longer than ordinary USPS services because of its security and handling procedures. GCA may select Registered Mail based on security considerations even when a faster service is otherwise available.
GCA may use ordinary UPS services, UPS declared value, insurance or shipment-protection products, or specialized high-value programs depending on the shipment.
Parcel Pro® is a UPS-affiliated high-value shipping program that may offer insured shipping and enhanced risk-management procedures for qualifying high-value property, including collectibles.
InsureShield® is a shipping-insurance product available through UPS Capital that may provide insurance coverage beyond ordinary carrier declared-value protection, subject to eligibility and applicable policy terms.
The availability and amount of Parcel Pro®, InsureShield®, or other UPS-related coverage depends on the item, value, destination, service, applicable account or enrollment requirements, underwriting requirements, and program terms.
GCA is not obligated to use Parcel Pro®, InsureShield®, or any particular UPS program merely because a shipment falls within a particular dollar range.
FedEx may be used for collectible shipments when GCA determines it is appropriate.
FedEx’s ordinary declared-value program is not insurance and is subject to FedEx’s applicable limits and conditions.
Certain collectibles may be subject to lower maximum declared-value limits under FedEx’s then-current service rules.
Accordingly, GCA generally will not rely solely on ordinary FedEx declared-value protection for a collectible whose value exceeds the applicable FedEx declared-value limit.
GCA may nevertheless use FedEx when separate insurance, third-party shipment protection, or another approved arrangement provides protection that GCA determines is appropriate.
Depending on the value and circumstances of a shipment, GCA may require:
GCA may delay shipment until appropriate insurance, address verification, identity verification, or secure-delivery arrangements have been confirmed.
For exceptionally valuable, rare, irreplaceable, fragile, or unusual property, GCA may require a shipping or delivery arrangement different from the options shown above.
The carrier guide above is provided for general informational purposes and does not create a right to use any particular carrier, service, insurance product, declared-value amount, or delivery method.
Carrier rules, services, insurance programs, coverage limits, exclusions, and eligibility requirements may change without notice.
GCA may select a different carrier or service, impose additional safeguards, or decline a requested shipping method whenever GCA determines that doing so provides more appropriate security, insurance protection, claims protection, or risk management.
GCA does not guarantee that any carrier, insurer, or shipment-protection provider will approve or pay a claim.
GCA may, but is not required to, accommodate a buyer’s, consignor’s, or seller’s request for a particular carrier, shipping service, shipping account, label, pickup arrangement, delivery method, or other shipping instruction.
GCA may refuse any requested method that GCA determines creates unacceptable insurance, security, fraud, loss, damage, claims, or delivery risk.
If GCA approves use of a customer-supplied shipping label, customer carrier account, or other customer-requested arrangement, applicable risk and responsibility will be determined by the governing transaction terms or by GCA in writing.
GCA’s agreement to use a customer-requested carrier, account, or label does not constitute a representation or guarantee that the shipment is insured or otherwise protected for its full value.
GCA may require signature confirmation, adult signature, restricted delivery, address verification, identity verification, or other enhanced-delivery requirements for any shipment.
GCA may refuse, delay, or require alternate delivery arrangements for shipments addressed to:
Orders generally will be shipped only to the verified shipping address associated with the transaction.
After a shipment has been prepared or tendered to a carrier, GCA may prohibit address changes, package intercepts, reroutes, redirects, hold-for-pickup requests, or other delivery modifications.
Any exception must be approved by GCA and may require additional verification, charges, revised shipment protection, or other safeguards.
GCA is not responsible for loss, delay, denied claims, or reduced coverage resulting from an unauthorized or customer-initiated delivery change.
Tracking information will be provided when available.
Carrier scans, tracking records, delivery confirmations, signatures, photographs, GPS information, and other carrier or delivery records may be used to establish shipment status and delivery.
Delivery estimates are not guarantees.
GCA is not responsible for delays caused by carriers, weather, natural disasters, labor disruptions, customs processing, governmental action, service interruptions, inaccurate customer information, or other circumstances outside GCA’s reasonable control.
Risk of loss and transfer of title are governed by GCA’s applicable Auction Terms and Conditions, Private Sale Agreement, other transaction documents, and applicable law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and the governing transaction documents, GCA’s responsibility for an outbound shipment ends upon documented delivery to the buyer’s designated address or an authorized recipient, subject to any applicable carrier or insurance claim rights.
The buyer is responsible for providing an accurate shipping address and ensuring that an authorized person is available to receive a signature-required shipment.
Unless a more restrictive service has been expressly selected, delivery to a carrier-authorized recipient at the designated delivery address may constitute delivery.
Buyers should inspect packages promptly upon delivery.
If a package appears damaged, tampered with, missing, or contains missing or damaged contents, the buyer must notify GCA in writing within forty-eight (48) hours after delivery.
The notice should include, when reasonably available:
The buyer must retain the property, original carton, internal packaging, labels, inserts, and all other shipment contents until GCA confirms that they may be discarded.
The buyer must reasonably cooperate with GCA, the carrier, insurer, shipment-protection provider, law enforcement, or others involved in investigating or processing a claim.
Failure to promptly report an issue, preserve the shipment and packaging, provide requested information, or reasonably cooperate may impair GCA’s ability to obtain recovery and may limit available relief to the extent permitted by law.
The forty-eight (48) hour reporting requirement is intended to allow GCA to investigate promptly and preserve carrier or insurance claim rights. It does not waive any non-waivable rights available under applicable law.
Do not return damaged, tampered-with, or disputed property unless GCA provides return instructions.
International shipping may be available only for approved destinations and eligible property.
GCA may restrict or decline international shipments because of:
International buyers are responsible for all customs duties, VAT, GST, brokerage charges, import taxes, permits, and other charges imposed by the destination country unless GCA expressly states otherwise.
GCA will comply with applicable customs and export laws and will not knowingly underdeclare shipment value, falsely describe contents, or alter customs documentation for the purpose of avoiding taxes, duties, or fees.
International delivery timeframes are estimates only.
A consignor, seller, or other owner should ship Property to GCA only in accordance with GCA’s shipping instructions, shipping label, or written authorization, when required.
Unless GCA provides a shipping label or separate written shipping instructions, the sender is responsible for selecting the carrier and service, securely packaging the Property, accurately identifying its contents, obtaining tracking and appropriate insurance or shipment protection, and, for higher-value shipments, using signature confirmation or another secure-delivery method.
The sender bears the risk of physical loss or damage until GCA or its authorized representative physically receives the Property at GCA’s designated receiving location, unless GCA expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
GCA’s provision of a shipping label, shipping instructions, carrier account, or recommended carrier does not, by itself, constitute GCA’s assumption of transit risk.
If GCA expressly provides insurance or shipment protection for an inbound shipment, that protection remains subject to the applicable carrier, insurer, or program terms, limits, exclusions, deductibles, packaging requirements, documentation requirements, and claims procedures.
A carrier delivery scan alone does not establish GCA’s physical receipt of the Property.
GCA’s physical receipt of Property does not constitute final acceptance of the Property for auction, Marketplace sale, private sale, or another Service. GCA may inspect the package and compare its contents with the applicable consignment schedule, inventory, submission form, private-sale documentation, or other records before accepting the Property for the applicable Service.
Consignors and other senders must not ship Property to an unauthorized address unless GCA provides express written authorization.
Property should be packaged in a manner reasonably designed to protect against movement, impact, moisture, tampering, and ordinary shipping hazards.
For trading cards and similar collectibles, appropriate packaging may include:
GCA may establish additional packaging requirements for particular shipments.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and the governing agreement, GCA may decline responsibility for damage caused by inadequate inbound packaging.
Where carrier records establish delivery to the verified shipping address or an authorized recipient, theft, disappearance, or loss occurring after delivery may not constitute a carrier shipping loss.
Customers should promptly retrieve delivered packages and use a secure delivery location whenever possible.
For higher-value purchases, GCA may require signature service or another enhanced-delivery method to reduce theft risk.
Nothing in this section limits rights available under applicable law or an applicable carrier or insurance program.
GCA may revise this Policy from time to time.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or provided in the governing transaction documents, the version applicable to a transaction generally will be the version in effect when the applicable purchase, consignment, private sale, or shipping arrangement is entered into.
Changes relating solely to available carrier services, operational procedures, packaging standards, security procedures, or shipment-protection requirements may apply to shipments occurring after the change where reasonably necessary.
